Sharing games on the PS5 is one of the best hidden features that many players still don’t use. If you and your friend own different games, you can actually share your libraries and play them without buying them twice. The best part? It takes only a few minutes to set up.
In this guide, I’ll walk you through the entire process in an easy, beginner-friendly way — no technical knowledge needed.

What Is Game Sharing on PS5?
Game Sharing lets you share your digital games with another PlayStation user. Once it’s enabled, your friend can download and play the games you’ve purchased — and the same applies for you if they share their library.
Sony calls this feature Console Sharing and Offline Play, but don’t worry, it’s very simple once you know where it is in the settings.
Before You Start (Important Notes)
- You must be logged into your PSN account on your friend’s PS5.
- Your friend must set your account as Primary on their console.
- Only one PS5 can be your primary console at a time.
- You both can still play your games at the same time — no issues there.
Step 1: Log In on Your Friend’s PS5
Turn on your friend’s PS5 and sign in with your PlayStation account.
If you don’t want to share your password, you can enter it once, enable game sharing, and then sign out later.
Step 2: Open Settings
Once logged in, go to the top-right corner and select the Settings (cogwheel) icon.
Step 3: Go to Users and Accounts
Scroll down and open Users and Accounts. This is where all sharing, sign-in, and account settings are located.
Step 4: Select “Other”
Inside Users and Accounts, scroll down to find the Other tab.
Step 5: Open “Console Sharing and Offline Play”
This is the main option that controls game sharing on the PS5.
Step 6: Enable Console Sharing
You will see one of two options:
- Enable
- Disable
If it says Enable, select it — this turns your account into the Primary Account on their PS5.
If it already says Disable, that means sharing is already active.
Once enabled, your friend can access your entire game library.
How Your Friend Can Download Your Games
After enabling sharing, your friend just needs to:
- Open the Game Library
- Go to the Your Collection section
- Select any game you own
- Download and play
Your licenses are now unlocked for them.
Can You Both Play at the Same Time?
Yes!
Both of you can play at the same time, even online, without any restrictions.
How to Stop Game Sharing (If Needed)
If you ever want to disable it:
- Go to Settings
- Users and Accounts
- Other
- Console Sharing and Offline Play
- Select Disable
This instantly stops sharing on that PS5.
Final Thoughts
Game Sharing on PS5 is a fantastic way to save money and enjoy more games with your friend. With just a few settings, both of you can access each other’s digital libraries and play without limitations.
