Just a few days to go until Christmas, and if your kids love gaming, there’s a good chance they’ll be opening the game they’ve been talking about non-stop for the past few months. As you know, Christmas is a time for family and togetherness, so why not combine the two? If you’re into gaming too, why not make the holiday season a time packed full of lots of different games that you can all enjoy together? Here are some tips on how to make gaming with the kids more fun this Christmas.
Dress for the occasion
Gaming can definitely be more fun if you’re dressed right. If you’re a family of avid gamers, there’s a good chance you all have some sort of gaming-themed clothing. Whether it’s a Roblox peak cap, a Minecraft dressing gown, or a World of Warcraft hoodie, putting them on to play can really make the experience more enjoyable, particularly if those items of clothing are also wrapped up and ready to be opened on Christmas day! Failing that, you could all spend the day in your pyjamas warm and comfortable for a fun-filled day of gaming!
Join them on their games
Kids don’t play the same kind of games we did when we were young. These days it’s all online and multiplayer, and it can take some getting used to, especially if you’re used to playing Zelda alone back in the day. So, get yourself involved in their games! If you’ve got older kids that enjoy games like Call of Duty, why not buy one of their bo6 bot lobbies to practise your skills before joining them and other players online? Not only will it help you skill up, but your kids will love watching you play on something they enjoy!
Set up your gaming stations
You might not all be playing the same game, but you can still spend time together! Why not set up a room in your home with all of your gaming consoles, PCs and other tech so that you can game side by side and enjoy the experience together?
Play some old school games
Let’s not forget about the old school games that we grew up on either! Just because they’re not online, it doesn’t mean you can’t all enjoy them! Why not dig out some old consoles like the N64 or the original Wii and enjoy some “old fashioned” multiplayer games there? There are loads of websites where you can buy second hand games if you want to explore different types of games and experiences. Who knows, you might unlock a new love for older gaming consoles in your kids too!
Make snacks perfect for gaming
No gaming experience is complete without snacks, but not just any snacks. A true gamer knows that not all snacks are appropriate for gaming. You need snacks that won’t make your fingers greasy, that you can eat with one hand, and definitely snacks that cannot spill. Things like cookies, sandwiches, crisps, jerky, candy, and chocolate all tick the yes box if you’re struggling for ideas.
