Wouldn’t it be great if you could edit an image you find online and then download it instead of having to do it the other way around? Well, you might be able to do that with Microsoft Edge in the future. The company is testing a new feature that lets you edit online images before downloading them.
This feature is currently available in Microsoft Edge Canary and is in the testing phase. The feature is available because of the integration of Microsoft’s graphic design app, Microsoft Designer, into Edge.
To use the editing functionality, you simply need to right-click on an online image and then select the Edit image option. After that, the Microsoft Designer window will appear and offer you different editing options like Adjustments and Filters.
In addition to these, you’ll also get AI tools like a background remover and the option to blur the background using AI. Once you’ve made your edits, you can download the image in your preferred format. Additionally, you can also send the edited image directly to your phone by scanning its QR code.
From what we can see, this feature appears to be an improvement on the current online image editing features available in Microsoft Edge. Specifically, Microsoft is aiming to add AI features to image editing within Microsoft Edge.
But it all comes down to whether Microsoft will be adding this feature to the Edge stable or not. This is because not all the features that come to the Canary build are made available to the Edge. While it’s almost confirmed that we’ll see AI-related image editing options in Edge in the future but, it’s uncertain if this specific implementation will be the final one.
Thanks, Leo for this discovery.
