AI is the hottest trend in the market, and it’s here to stay. Microsoft Edge already boasts a lot of AI features like the Image Creator Tool, Copilot, and more. Now, Microsoft is planning to add an AI theme generator directly to the browser.
Microsoft recently updated its roadmap page for the Edge browser. According to the update, the browser will soon support a built-in AI theme generator. This feature will allow users to input a text prompt and generate a series of images to preview as browser themes. This update is currently under development, and Microsoft plans to start rolling it out sometime in June 2024.
Once you apply the generated theme, you’ll see the change in appearance on the Edge new tab page. Additionally, the dominant color of the theme will be applied throughout the Edge frame. As an admin, if you use Microsoft Edge for an organization, you can restrict users from accessing this feature using the AIGenThemesEnabled policy.
Other changes coming to Edge
The built-in AI theme generator isn’t the only change coming to Microsoft Edge in the next few days. According to the roadmap, Microsoft Edge will update its Settings page to make it easier for you to find the setting you’re looking for.
An upcoming update will also make it possible to open MIP-protected PDF files in Microsoft Edge. Additionally, Edge will start automatically discarding inactive tabs to save memory.
Along with all these new changes, a June update will allow you to add highlights in Workspaces. What are your thoughts on this new change coming to Edge, and what other things do you want Microsoft to add to its browser? Share your thoughts in comments.
