Google has just announced official support for Microsoft Office documents within Google Docs. It means you can now edit Microsoft Office files with Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. It is a great week for
The news comes from the Google Cloud Next 19 conference, held these days in San Francisco. Google Docs will soon support editing of Office files. So far, Google’s suite support modification of files created in Microsoft Office only after conversion of the file itself, which often leads to various formatting problems. Therefore, starting from the next few weeks, Google Docs users will be able to modify the following file types without affecting the original formatting:
- Word file: .doc, .docx, .dot
- PowerPoint files : .ppt, .pptx, .pps, .pot
- Excel file : .xls, .xlsx, .xlsm, .xlt
