Dragon’s Dogma 2 offers players an epic journey filled with combat, exploration, and character development. Unfortunately, there isn’t an option to delete the saved game file and start a new game. This could come as a surprise for some players who simply want to restart the game.
Unlike other RPGs, players can’t simply hit a button to erase their past adventures. A more manual approach is required to create a new character and experience the story from the start. Some may wonder if this is a bug or a glitch. It is simply how the developers of Dragons Dogma 2 handle the saved data.
How to Delete Saved Game File in Dragons Dogma 2
There are methods by which players can delete the saved game files in Dragons Dogma 2. It’s important to know that the developer doesn’t hide these methods. Also, deleting these files is a standard operation, and there is no risk of breaking the game.
Here’s how you can delete Dragon’s Dogma saved game files:
On Steam/PC:
- Right-click on Dragons Dogma 2 in the Steam library, navigate to Properties > General, and turn off Cloud saves (Steam Cloud).
- Next, open File Explorer, find the saved game files and then delete them. This will be pretty well hidden in a folder that will look something like this:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\33217548\2054970
- Once you have deleted these files, start Dragon’s Dogma 2, create a new character, and turn on cloud saves.
On PS5
- Open the Settings menu on the top of the screen from the PS5 dashboard.
- Navigate to Saved Data > Game/App Settings and turn off Auto-Sync Saved Data. This will disable cloud saves.
- Return to the main Settings menu, select Storage > Saved Data, and scroll to Dragons Dogma 2.
- Here, delete the saved data, launch the game, and create a new character. Once you’ve done this, turn on cloud saves again.
On Xbox
- From your Xbox console’s main dashboard, navigate to the Settings menu > Network Settings and select Go Offline.
- Exit the menu, choose Dragon’s Dogma 2, and press the controller menu button.
- Here, click on Manage Games and Add-Ons > Saved Data and delete everything you see.
- Once done, launch the game, create a new character, and then enable cloud saves.
With all your old Dragons Dogma 2 data deleted, you can start exploring the game from scratch. After deleting the old data files, remember to enable cloud saves so that data starts getting stored again.
