Microsoft is offering some Windows Insiders the opportunity to receive a free USB Flash Drive to perform a clean installation of Windows 11. But why? Let’s know more about it.
Those users who have enrolled in the Windows 11 Insider Program and selected to receive updates in the Dev channel or running Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25000 or higher on one of their devices are automatically moved from Dev to the New Canary channel to continue to receive new updates going forward.
Canary is a channel for highly technical users that allows Windows Insiders to preview the latest platform changes early in the development cycle. The Canary builds can be unstable and are released with limited to no documentation. You can read more about it here.
In case, you think the Canary channel is more technical as compared to other channels, then the only way to switch to the Dev channel or another insider channel (with a lowers build number) is by doing a clean installation of Windows 11.
To perform the clean installation of Windows 11, Microsoft suggests users make use of a blank USB Drive with a minimum of 8GB of storage. In case, you don’t a USB Drive, then you can request one from them for free.
