Microsoft releases Windows 10 April 2018 update. Even lots of users have already updated their machine to the latest version. Early adopters are facing lots of bugs and issues after installing the update.
Some users reporting on the Microsoft Answers that some specific apps like Google Chrome and Cortana hang or freeze after installing the Windows 10 April Update.
Fix: Google Chrome Freezing Issue in Windows 10 April 2018 Update
In case, you’re facing the same issue, then all you need to do is to download and install cumulative update KB4103721 for Windows 10 version 1803.
This update fixes not only the Chrome freezing issue but also the Cortana freezing issue. To grab the update, you need to
1. Launch Settings app.
2. Click on Update & Security -> Windows Update -> Check for update. You will see the following update:
Let the system download and install the update.
Once done, reboot your PC.
This will fix the issue for sure, as the same is confirmed the lots of users who already installed this cumulative update on their Windows 10 PC running April Update.

In case, your system still freezes while using any Windows 10 app; then you can try any of the following methods to troubleshoot the issue:
In case of Windows PC and Tablet
If the keyboard is connected to the machine, Try to wake up the screen by pressing the WIN logo + CTRL + SHIFT + B simultaneously. If you’re using a Windows tablet, then press volume up and volume down simultaneously, two three times within two seconds.
If the Windows is responsive, you will hear a quick beep sound and screen will get dim or blink while the system tries to refresh the screen.
In case of Windows Laptop
If you’re using a laptop running Windows 10 April 2018 update, then all you have to do is to close and open the lid of the laptop quickly.
