From the day Helldivers 2 was available for games, it still occasionally encounters various bugs and errors, the well-known Failed to Join Game lobby. The issue isn’t resolved yet, gamers reporting another annoying issue about the game crashing during extraction and at the end of the game. These crashes can disrupt the game’s flow and risk losing hard-earned mission rewards.
According to multiple reports, the game crashed earlier when using arc weapons, and the crashes were not frequent. However, after a recent patch update, the game started crashing randomly, especially during extraction, when the mission was about to end, drop, mid-session, when the objective was completed, and before the reward screen appeared. Many players worldwide face the issue, and Reddit is full of threads with similar reports.
Arrowhead Studios, the developers of Helldivers 2, are completely aware of these crashes. They haven’t pinpointed any cause yet for why these crashes are occurring but have released a patch update for crashes that occurred while accessing the Acquisitions menu. This is very reassuring for players facing this critical bug.
As of now, users cannot do anything except wait for a permanent fix from the developers. However, one user suggested setting the difficulty to below suicide, which helped in fixing the issue.
Another user suggested that he managed to fix the issue on PC verifying the game files on Steam and copying the nplsm.des file to some other location. After every mission, replace the suggested file in your game folder with the one copied earlier.
Another user commented that playing the game in 1440p instead of 2160p helps stop these crashes.
Although solutions suggested by different users on Reddit worked for other users as well, so there’s not harm in trying those solutions. But consider them as temporary workarounds.
Helldivers 2 crashing during extraction and at the end of the game can impact the gaming experience. Players should approach extractions and mission ends cautiously as the error still isn’t permanently resolved. Hopefully, we can see a permanent fix from the developers soon.
