This is good news for e-commerce site Amazon, and bad for your pocket, especially if you love shopping.
How to Use Snapchat Visual Search Tool
According to the information shared on the Snap blog post, to search Amazon using Snapchat, here’s what users need to do:
1. Launch the Snapchat app on the phone.
2. Next, point the camera at the physical product or barcode, you want to search on Amazon, and press and hold on the camera screen.
It will take a few seconds to identify the product.
3. Once done, it will show you Amazon card for that product or similar. The card includes information like title, cost, thumbnail picture, review score, and the Prime availability.
When you tap on the Amazon card, you will be redirected to Amazon app or the site (if the app is not installed) so that you can purchase the particular product.
When you point the camera on particular products, the tool first finds out if it is a song, QR code, or the object, and then Amazon’s machine vision technology identify artwork, logos, package covers, and other unique identifying marks to find out the product.
Snapchat Visual Search tool is officially rolled in the United States with selected users before rolling out to the other countries. So count this to be a slow rollout, especially if you live outside of United States.
