Whenever you install Chrome browser on your desktop, you get a dialog asking you to set it as default browser. Not Chrome, but every web browser offer same option.
So far Edge for Android ask users to set it as default. It seems like following Microsoft, Google also preparing a same promo dialog that ask users to set Chrome as default browser in Android.
As of writing this blog post, the default browser promo is available behind the flags in the latest version of Chrome in the Canary channel. In case, you want to try it out, then here’s how to enable and use it:
Update Chrome for Android in Canary channel to the latest version available and then visit this flag address: chrome://flags/#android-default-browser-promo
Here, using the Default Browser Promo drop-down change the settings from Default to Enabled.
Tap Relaunch to apply the changes.
After doing this, you will instantly be asked to set Chrome for Android in the Canary channel as the default browser. You will see a Default Browser Promo with this message, check following screenshot:
If you tap on Chrome Canary option, set defaults dialog will open showing you list of browser installed on your phone. Select Chrome canary and tap Set as default button.
